In my June and July fishing reports I commented about the lack of rain; be careful of what you wish for...... It has rained here a bunch in August and the Glades are absolutely full of water.
We have not fished this week; "the Gulf is pissed off" as Capt Rob Modys said so perfectly the other day. The wind has been blowing steady most days making for dirty water out front and in the back. Sight fishing is tough in these conditions. There are some nice ten to twenty pound tarpon are hanging in the freshwater outflows, try a Green Lantern..... I have been tying some new flies, adding new inventory and getting ready for an upcoming bonefish trip. Look for some cool new fly fishing products in our online catalog very soon.
We have heard from a number of friends up-north affected by Hurricane Irene and wish them all the best through their recovery from the flooding.
We will keep you posted,
Capt Bill Baldus
