I came up with this pattern while poling the shallow creeks and bays in the backcountry to imitate the small glass minnows the big snook were keyed in on. I started tying this pattern with DNA HoloFusion and have since started using the Fish Scale produc from Just Add H20. Fish Scale is a very cool material with lots of possibilities for color combinations.
The first time I cast this pattern it was to a 35" snook laying in 6" of water. He ate it with abandon on the first throw. I was sold. I tie this on size 1 or 2 Mustad Saltwater Lights or Gamakatsu SC15. I also vary the color of the back from brown to green depending on the color of baits I am trying to imitate. Great beach fly or for snook under dock lights.
Get some of these guys in your box and next time you see fish smackin' on the small baits, give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
